This is one of the first pieces I
did that wasnt a commission.
In all my trips to the Sonoran Desert Museum when I lived in Tucson, one
of the first natural habitats they created was the mountain lion habitat. I was amazed at
how the cougars behavior mimics that of house cats. The new zoo habitat that they
built for the cougars simulated a natural rocky ledge. The cougar leaped from rock to rock
and ledge to ledge so gracefully. I wanted to capture that absolute agility and
balance even when his focus was elsewhere.
