Elizabeth Gideon McDonald commissioned this
piece. Her father built the Game Lodge in Custer State Park and as a young girl she had
many wild pets, one of them was a white tailed doe.
In her 80s back in 1992 she commissioned me to sculpt her pet who
commonly reached up into the aspen branches for her meal while she was anxiously waiting
for the bread Elizabeth and her friends would offer the doe.
She said that most every other deer sculpture she could find was a big
macho piece with bucks. She couldnt find a sculpture of a quiet doe. There are only
10 pieces in this edition with 7 left.
