A biome (bi' ohm) is a self contained
ecosystem that is represented by a dominant climatic vegetation. Examples are the boreal
forest (represented by spruce trees), and the grassland (represented obviously by a
dominant grass species). I labeled this edition "Biome" for it represents the
high tundra, where lichens and sedges dominate. The Rocky Mountain goat lives on the
sparse vegetation that make up the rocky tundra slopes.
