.My first full figure bison sculpture (1990) took 1st. Place at the World Bison Conference at La Cross Wisconsin in 1993. It later captured Kevin Costner's attention and contributed to  being awarded the Dunbar commission.

"I was at the south end of Custer State Park when a band of bison came down a ravine trotting through a prairie dog town.  One particularly bold prairie dog made a point of discouraging bison from wallowing near his mound.  I was amazed by his courage."
