As a child,  I explored the prairies and was amazed at some of the artifacts I could find. There were remains of bison skulls mixed with cattle skulls from large winterkills. Those skulls would recycle back into the environment with all sorts of rodents stripping the skulls for the calcium they needed.

I started sculpting bison after a dream  I had in late 1989 which revealed I would gain my fame as an artist through bison figures.

About two weeks after this dream I found out Kevin Costner was in my home state of South Dakota filming "Dances With Wolves". I knew then that this was one of those dreams of premonition. I sculpted nothing but bison for the rest of ’89 and all of 1990.
